About TRUELA
Trustworthy Learning Analytics and Artificial Intelligence for Sound Learning Design (TRUELA) is a research project financed by the Croatian Science Foundation (IP-2022-10-2854), led by Professor Blaženka Divjak, PhD. The project will be implemented between 30 December 2023 and 29 December 2027, with the total budget amounting to 119.344,35 EUR. The project aims to develop new LA and AI approaches and methods that use large amounts of data generated (primarily) in learning management systems. These methods and approaches will generate learning analytics that inform learning design, and support the implementation of innovative teaching methods and e-assessment strategies. Moreover, the project aims to detect and analyze learning patterns in online and blended learning environments, and thus advance the understanding of learning processes.

Specific objectives

- SO1 Development of a framework for trustworthy LA and AI algorithm(s) that will be used to support comparison of intended LD against LD of existing courses in a learning management system, and to provide recommendations for improvements aligned with the LD
- SO2 Development of a methodology based on trustworthy LA for evaluation of students’ learning paths leading to the intended learning outcomes (LOs) as support for teachers in LD development
- SO3 Development of method(s) for identification of learning patterns of successful students and those who are lagging behind, based on their digital footprint in the LMS (learning paths and assessment data) and LA
- SO4 Development of a methodology based on LA to support valid, reliable and trustworthy e-assessment
- SO5 Researching the needs and impact, and providing training for HE teachers to revise HE curricula, using LD, LA, AI, and e-assessment, supporting flexible learning pathways
