Article on the predictive power of formative assessment published in JCAL
An article authored by Professor Blaženka Divjak, Barbi Svetec and Damir Horvat has been published in the high-quality international Journal of Computer Assisted Learning.
The article, entitled How can valid and reliable automatic formative assessment predict the acquisition of learning outcomes?, presents a study investigating whether regular checks like quizzes (formative assessment) can be used to predict students’ performance on high-stake exams (summative assessment). The study used the Random Forest algorithm to develop a predictive learning analytics model, based on data collected in two university maths courses.
