TRUELA project meeting and workshop
From 18 till 20 September 2024, back-to-back with the 35th Central European Conference on Information and Intelligent Systems (CECIIS) organized by the Faculty of Organization and Informatics, several TRUELA project activities were held in Varaždin.
First, the TRUELA International Research Group met on a project meeting, led by Professor Blaženka Divjak, the TRUELA project leader. The group discussed the realised and upcoming activities and results, aligned with the project objectives and timeline.
Second, project team members Professor Hanni Muukkonen and Professor Bart Rienties held inspiring keynote speeches within the CECIIS conference, discussing stakeholder perspectives of learning analytics and AI, and the place of culture in information and intelligent systems, respectively.
Third, the TRUELA team, together with additional interested researchers, took part in a two-day research workshop on trustworthy learning analytics and AI algorithms. The participants were presented with the latest developments related to FOI's Balanced Design Planning tool for learning design and took part in focus groups to discuss AI algorithms and how AI can be used to support learning design. Moreover, after a general discussion on the dimensions of trustworthy learning analytics, the participants split into another set of focus groups to delve deeper into related issues, such as the benefits and risks of learning analytics from different user perspectives and additional challenges brought by AI.
